The "serial number supplied is not accepted" error message suggests that the provided serial number for the "honestech HD DVR" software is not valid or recognized. The user may need to double-check the serial number and ensure it is entered correctly, or possibly contact the software's support for assistance.
I am using Honestech HD DVR 2.5 software with EasyCapconverter. When transferring VCR of full movies (75 minutes), the first hour (actually 1:04:24) is recorded as 1 job for burning to DVD and the remainder as a second job. How do I get the whole VCR recording to be on a single file for transfer to DVD?
Usually, the problem here is the driver that Windows can't properly initialize. I suggest looking in the Device Manager. That's the place to firstly check the driver's installation. Press Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc. If you see an item marked with a yellow exclamation mark, then you'll have to reinstall the drivers.
I use Honestech DVR 2.5 to capture Wii games mainly, and I have everything plugged in correctly, but for some reason when I press the record button it says 'Error in Recording.' I don't know whether to buy a new capture card (easycap is my brand), or to reinstall Honestech DVR 2.5 again. I think this would probably be the better option, because if I bought a new capture card, chances are the problem would probably just keep reoccurring. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try this, start the program, when program opens click on the "property setting" icon, click on the "video setting" tab, then place a tck in the box that says "Use the internal audio streaming function" you will be prompted to restart the program. Do so and try the record again.
Honestech DVR 2.5 will not record to 4TB external hard drive. Error message is 'Disk Full' - but it is not.

That happens because the file you're trying to record exceeds 2 GB, which means your hard drive is formatted in the FAT32 file system. You need to format it to the NTFS file system. Copy all your data to another location, then go to Computer, right-click the partition where you want to store the recordings and choose Format. Pick NTFS from the list and continue with the formatting procedure. Make sure to select Quick Format as well. After this procedure, the software won't give you the same error again.
I've just received this item "Honestech DVR 2.5" after almost 4 weeks of waiting, I've installed it (PCI card & software). Picture looks great (yet only on 16.5), but no sound. It will not record. I have Windows 7 and have run it as Admin. Under all versions of Windows on its list (ie: 95, 2000, Vista, XP etc.), yet all I can get from my VCR / DVD Player (via HDMI port) is a picture. What can I do to hear it? Also, do I need an additional recording device?

When you connect a HD device through HDMI to computer, Windows will automatically install the necessary drivers for HDMI. This is usually encountered for graphic cards (eg. Nvidia). If you'll have issues in future, just open the application and make sure you choose the sound options to reflect the cable and connection you're using (eg. HDMI Output) else the device/software will refuse to record the sound/video. Additionally, you can also set the playback mode in the Control Panel under the Sound options.
I am having trouble telling the program where I want it to put the digital data from my converted VHS file. It seems to be converting and recording, but the output is not where I wanted it. In fact, I haven't been able to find any file. How can I solve this?

The default path where the files are saved is C:\ Users\ User-name\ Videos\ honestech HD DVR. You should search in the location mentioned first. Also, you can try to use the Search service from Start to manually detect your files.
If the program can't be set to output the data into a specific destination, this can be caused by an internal error of the application. To fix it, try to update the program to the latest version available. The latest version was tested, and there was no issue encountered. You can download the program from the official website.
Honestech DVR 2.5 recorded files size is always 903 Kb: only a fraction of second of video is recorded Using full HD HDMI source, tested on two PCs: a Dell under XP 32bit, and a HP under Windows 7 32bit.

The first thing you have to do is to launch the application with Administrative permissions. Secondly, check the installed codecs. In most of the cases, XviD should be more than enough to have a proper encoder. This is needed to configure recording parameters, quality, etc.
After you have met these requirements, I recommend checking the recording settings as well. Choose the Xvid codec if you can, and then set the correct quality, bitrate, resolution, etc.
When I record from my VCR (Luxor 4703), it shows the upper half of picture in the bottom and the bottom in upper half. Where can I adjust this?

I suspect this is either a hardware or a configuration issue because that isn't supposed to happen and the application should display the correct image. I suspect the problem is related to the signal received from the VCR. You should check its configuration data and the cables you use to connect the stream from the VCR to PC.
If your Honestech device, matches with one on the following page, apply an update to the firmware or install a new version of the software.
